The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has launched a fresh wave of airstrikes across southern Beirut and other areas in Lebanon, targeting what it says is infrastructure linked to the Iran-backed group Hezbollah amid escalating regional tensions.
Israeli military officials said the strikes hit multiple locations in southern Lebanon, including Tyre, Qabrikha, Deir Siryan, and Taybeh, as well as villages in the Bekaa Valley.
The attacks targeted what the IDF described as a Hezbollah command centre in Ansariyeh, from which rockets had allegedly been launched toward Israel.
“The attacks are aimed at Hezbollah infrastructure, including command centres from which rockets have been launched against Israel,” the Israeli military said, warning residents in southern Lebanon to evacuate and move at least 300 metres away from potential targets.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that at least four people were injured in Harouf following the air raids. Thick smoke was also seen rising over parts of Beirut, including the densely populated southern suburbs known as Dahiyeh, which is considered a Hezbollah stronghold.
Israeli forces issued multiple evacuation warnings to residents before carrying out the raids.
“Residents in Arnon, Yahmar and nearby villages must leave immediately and move north of Nabatieh,” said the IDF’s Arabic-language military spokesperson in a later warning, underscoring the urgency of the evacuation.
The renewed airstrikes come amid intensifying clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters along the Lebanon–Israel border.
Both sides have accused the other of escalating the conflict, which has fueled growing concerns of a wider regional confrontation involving Israel, the United States, and Iran.
In parallel, US Central Command reported that US forces had “eliminated” 16 Iranian mine-laying ships in the region, following President Donald Trump’s warning to Iran not to deploy mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The developments highlight the increasing involvement of regional powers and the heightened risk of further escalation.
The attacks have further strained the humanitarian situation in Lebanon, where fighting has already displaced hundreds of thousands of civilians in recent days.
Local authorities and humanitarian groups have warned that continued bombardments could exacerbate civilian casualties and force additional evacuations.
